Birthday wishes

I saw a card sketch on Pinterest and knew I wanted to use it . . . it looked like a quick and easy card and something I could do using up my scraps of paper.  I cut a few 1 1/2" squares and then just rounded SOME of the corners.  I embossed the solid colors to give them more depth.

Here is a secret . . . I totally messed up on the smallest butterfly!  I had inked the edges of the butterfly and it was still wet when I glued it down and some of the ink got on my card!  I was so upset with myself!  So to "fix" it I just cut two more squares, the same color as the background paper, inked the edges of those and added one to cover my mistake and the other to make it look like that was my intended layout all along!

I made the butterflies wings pop off the page, which is not something I usually do.  I normally glue everything down flat so that I can put it in an envelope, but the butterflies were just asking to fly so I had to.  I finished it off with the Birthday Wishes sentiment from the Above Rubies Studio stamp set.

I think that this project also shows that crafting is a process and you have to go with it and not fight it.  Don't look at things as a "mistake" . . . look at it as an opportunity for more creativity!
