Disney Pixar Blog Hop - June 21st - Father's Day Card

Welcome to the Disney Pixar Blog Hop!

If you love Disney Pixar and crafting, you came to the right place!  We have an entire month of fun planned for you, with a new group of crafting bloggers every Saturday in June.

Are you having fun with our hop?  If you missed the first two weekends, you can still go back and see all of those projects too.  Just click HERE to see the projects from the first weekend, and click HERE to see the projects from the second weekend.

Now for my project THIS WEEK!  Last weekend was Father's Day Weekend, and my daughter and I wanted to create a special card for her Dad to let him know how super we think he is, so we decided to go with a super hero theme.  (If you ask me, he is pretty incredible)

When I cut the red for Mr. Incredible's suit, using my Best of Pixar Cricut Cartridge, I noticed that there was a white edge all around the cut.  This is because the paper has a white core to it.  Personally, I did not like the way that looked, but it was easy enough to fix.

I just grabbed a pen, for this one I used my Zig calligraphy pen, and inked all around the edges of the cut.  I used the fat end of the calligraphy pen, which made it nice and easy to just go around the outside edge of the entire cut.

I think that looks SO MUCH BETTER!  There is more definition to the cut and all of the small details of the curves really pop out.

Then I layered them on the black background cut and started build all of the layers of Mr. Incredible.

NOW, when I got to the eyes, those little tiny cuts of the blue part of Mr. Incredible's eyes were just TOO SMALL to pick up and glue on to the image.  Now worries!  I just grabbed a blue fine tip pen and made a couple of little dots for the eyes.

Now for the card.  I used a royal blue base . . .

Then I layered a piece of blue star patterned paper on top of that.

Now to add some POP to the card!  I used the Illusion Film from Rowlux.  This product comes in a variety of colors and patterns.  I love the waves and swirls in this product!  It is much thicker than paper.  It almost feels like you are cutting through a plastic packaging product.

You can cut it with scissors or with your Cricut!  I cut this shape from the Best of Pixar Cricut cartridge.  I used a deep cut blade, with a depth of 6, multi cut of 4, speed of 2 and pressure of 3.  Now, when the Cricut got done cutting I did not think it cut all the way through . . . then I started to try to bend the product at the cut line and the shape started to pop out!  I kind of "wiggled" the product back and forth around the cut lines to get it to come out.  And of course, I had my Westcott scissors for any stubborn spots.

Here is how the shape looked after it was all cut out.  I love the depth and dimension that you get, even on a flat cut, with this product.  Can you imagine how cool it would look if you used it on a 3D project?

I cut the word POW to go on top of this cut.

And since you can see through the Illusion Film, I did not want the adhesive I was using to show, so I used some foam pieces and placed them on the back behind where the word POW was so that you would not see them from the front.

For the inside of the card I printed this saying . . .

And that is our super hero Father's Day card for a super Dad!
