Valentine's Day Banner

This weekend I decided to put up some Valentine's Day decorations.  I needed something with bright colors to help me forget about all of the snow that is outside.

Have you seen the BEAUTIFUL colors in the DCWV Colored Burlap Stack?  Here is a preview photo from their site.

The pink was PERFECT for my Valentine's Day banner!  And it was so easy to make.

I cut a 5 3/4" heart from the George and Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge on a piece of scrap paper and then used that as a template to cut the 6 burlap hearts.  I simply used some blue painter's tape to tape the heart down to the burlap, and then cut around it.

I had some teal and purple ribbon in my ribbon box, and I could not decide if which one to use on this banner, so I ended up alternating between the two colors.  To attach the ribbons to the hearts I first cut the ribbon into pieces about 6" long, and then I pinned the ribbon to the back of the hearts in the upper third portion of the heart.

I did a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine with a hot pink thread.  This stitch served several purposes . . . it attached the ribbon to the heart, it will keep the burlap from fraying and it added a pretty border.

Then I needed to add some sparkle.  I cut the word LOVE out of gold rhinestone sticker sheets from The Buckle Boutique with the thick font on the Opposites Attract Cricut cartridge.  This cartridge also has a shadow cut, and I cut some deep purple cardstock to go behind the gold letters to really help them "pop".

I have included links below
