Crocheted American Girl Doll Dress with Ruffle

After a long day at work, sometimes I would rather just plop down on the couch than be off in my craft room by myself.  One of the great things about working on crocheted projects is that I can relax, watch television and hang out with my family while I work on these projects.

For this dress I combined two projects I have already showed you on my blog . . . the American Girl Doll dress pattern, and a ruffle that was originally used for a hair scrunchie.

Here is a close up of the ruffle.  It is the exact same stitch from the hair scrunchie project I did, which you can see by clicking HERE.

I found the original pattern for this ruffle in the LeisureArts.com book Teach Me To Crochet.

This is a great book for a beginner or someone who would like some new ideas for projects using basic stitches.  Working some of these projects has really helped me to build my confidence as a crocheter.

This dress has a great fullness to it . . . look at that skirt when it is all fanned out!
