Magic Marble on adhesive backed fabric!

The other day I showed you a few videos from the recent Craft and Hobby Trade Show Event in Las Vegas.  If you missed them you can go HERE.

One of the products that I talked about was Magic Marble.  This stuff is so fun!  Pick your colors, drop them into the water, and dip anything you want to color.  We tried it with adhesive backed fabric, and it worked so well!  Bright and beautiful colors all swirled around.  And the colors stayed on the adhesive backed fabric because it is a FABRIC not a vinyl.

Here is a photo of the sample piece once it dried.

Now I have a swirled piece of adhesive backed fabric that I can stick to anything, remove and stick again and again!  

And the backing sheet also took on the same swirls, so if I wanted to I could use that like  piece of cardstock for a separate project.

Once I have time to create something with it I will show it to you.

Home from CHA!

I am home from the Craft and Hobby Trade Show in Las Vegas!  

We got home the other day, but I needed some time to get caught up on emails and get my system adjusted back to my own time zone!

I created a few projects that are on display at the booth, and today I wanted to share a card I made.

Since hexagons are a popular shape right now, I cut several hexagons form different colors of the
Dazzling Diamond Rhinestone Sticker Sheets.  I used the rainbow sheets for some of the cuts, but made sure to just cut through the pink/purple/blue portion of the rainbow to gibe an ombre effect, which is also very popular right now.

Not only was this card on display, but I cut HUNDREDS of these hexagons so that people who came to the booth could also create a card like this and bring some sparkle home with them.

Adding a little sparkle to a purse

I created a few projects that are on display at the booth, and today I wanted to share one of them with you.

I found this cute black purse at a local thrift store for less than $5.  I thought it was cute as it was, but I knew I could take it up a notch.

So I used the Rhinestone Fabric from The Buckle Boutique.  This product has an iron on backing, so I could cut it and then iron it in place on the purse.

It adds just a little something extra to the purse.

I took some time today to make one last project before I left.  I wanted to have a new pair of shoes to show at the event, so I started with a simple pair of sandals that I found on sale for less than $10

They are cute, but for an event with so many crafters I knew that they needed something more.

So I grabbed some of the Ombre Rainbow Dazzling Diamond Rhinestone sticker sheets that I had

I cut strips in the direction that the colors were running and then applied those strips to the sandals

Now I have a great pair of shoes with some pink/purple/blue accent to them!

A hat with style!

I love this project!  Do you have a plain hat sitting around your house that you want to add a little style to?

I had a crafting day with a friend of mine, and she had picked up this plain black hat at a thrift store, and she wanted to add a little sparkle to it.  We used a glitter sticker sheet product I had in my stash and cut a fun embellishment for her hat!

It was a fun way to add some style to a simple hat!

BIG NEWS!!!!

If you have been to my blog, you know I have spoken in the past about making money with crafts. If you have not read my past blog on this topic, just click HERE. 

I actually use many of these ideas to generate income myself. Now, I personally am not making enough to quit my day job, but even a couple hundred dollars a month is a nice little "perk". And when I have time to put more effort into some of these different areas then I generate more money. You get what you put in. 

What if I could show you how people (like myself) have turned $5 worth of product, crafting and creativity into cash. 

What do I mean?  Well, here are some examples of things I have done . . . 

There is a local school that has an entrance where one direction takes you to the school and the other direciton takes you to the Parish Office.  People coming in were always going the wrong way, so I cut the letters out of adhesive backed fabric to spell out School Entrance and put it over the door.

I even used the printable product to print out the school's logo and added that to the doorway.

And then there was the Parish Office entrance

As you can see, I added the church logo to the sides of this one also.

Now, if I wanted to keep going on this idea I could make more of these decals in a variety of sizes that could be placed on 

lockers

tablets

laptops

iPods

cell phones

in classrooms

If the walls need to be painted they can remove these decals and place them back when they are done.

What else could you do?

What about making birthday decor!

Create signs and decorations that people can stick anywhere, 

then remove and save to use again year after year!

(how much to you think someone would pay for something like this?)

I even made a mouse hole, with Minnie and Mickey standing near it that I placed by the baseboard in my hallway.

I am working with a couple of other crafters to teach them how to make money from their hobby.  I hope to then use their stories as success stories and then show others how to do this too.

Swimming

Summer is here!  Time for relaxing and swimming!

This layout is from a memorial scrapbook that I created for a family that did not meet until I was asked to work on this project for them.  The father of the family had just passed away, and the mother wanted scrapbooks for both of her daughters to remember the fun time they had with their father.

I used some paper with fun swimming words in the border, and then added some bright colors with a soft wave cut to them.  Then to bring in more bright fun colors I added circles that kind of look like bubbles.  The circles were mostly random left overs from other projects.

So her and I had a crafting day, and we went to the thrift store and picked up a few things to add some sparkle to.  Then nice thing about going to the thrift store is that we spend VERY LITTLE money but she was able to have several sparkle projects when we were done!

For this one, we started with a basic pair of glasses . . .

Then we just added some Dazzling Diamonds from The Buckle Boutique to the side!

It did not take much to add some sparkle!

13th Birthday Card

Birthday cards for boys are always so hard for me. I like to make things with sparkle and bling, and boys/men don't usually like cards like that. 

Here is a 13th Birthday card I made for a friend of our family.  I used a brightly striped paper for the background, and then cut the number 13 to look like birthday candles. 

There are actually 2 Cricut cartridges that have a number candle cut like this, and here is how you can find them . . . go to MyCutSearch.com and type in

Okay, back to the card . . .

I finished it off with a smaller blue piece of paper that I embossed with a random Happy Birthday pattern.  Simple . . . but just right for a 13 year old boy.

Make your own iPod skin

I have a teenage daughter, and as anyone who is also the parent of a teenage daughter knows is that teenagers change thier mind quickly about what they like and don't like.  So how do you keep up with their ever changing likes/dislikes? 

With adhesive backed fabric!

Adhesive backed fabric that you can print on

(or paint on . . . or stamp on . . . or color on . . . you get the idea)

Print any image you want, then cut it so it can be stuck on anything you want.  The best part is that it come off without leaving any residue or damaging the surface you stuck it to. 

And you can restick it over and over!

Here is a photo of an iPod skin that my daughter and I created by just printing the image on adhesive backed fabric and then trimming it to fit her iPod.  We cut a piece of scrap paper to size and then used that as a template to cut the image for the personal iPod skin.  Now my daughter wants me to make 2 or 3 more so she can change them out when ever she wants.

Here is a birthday card that I made using Paper Layers by Megan Elizabeth. 

Paper Layerz has an entire stack of paper where each sheet is broken in to nine 4x4 squares of coordinating patterns.  Just put one sheet into your Cricut and you can cut out all of the layers you need to create a color coordinating card or scrapbook layout!

I cut this cute little elephant and the phrase "Let's Party" out of one sheet of Paper Layerz.  then I used some of the extra areas that I did not cut for the elephant to cut the shapes that I used for the background of the card.

I added a little Viva Decor to the eyes and the tail to add some extra POP.

I love that I did not have to spend a lot of time thinking about what colors I wanted to use for this card . . . just put the one sheet of paper into the Cricut and start cutting.

Wedding Card

Do you need a quick yet elegant looking wedding card?  Here is one that I created recently.

The colors for the wedding were shades of purple, so I used a patterned two tone purple cardstock from the Jinger Adams Bella Vita Collection, then I backed that with a darker purple and matted a smaller purple piece on top of it.  I inked around the edges of the smaller piece to give it more depth.

Then I cut the word Love out of white Dazzling Diamonds from The Buckle Boutique.

I also added a small strand of pearls that I had in my stash to the side.

I used the Cricut Cartridge Sweethearts - page 34/keypad button 3 for this cut

Teen's Room with adhesive backed fabric

I am SO HAPPY to share this project with you!  Mostly because my daughter has been waiting so patiently for me to actually DO this project, but also because I get to show you another great use for adhesive backed fabric Ink Jet Printable Sheets.

This is a photo of the wall in my daughter's room.  For a while she was into anything with a peace sign on it, and we found these three plaque's that we hung on the wall.  Later on when she got into Donald Duck we added the Donald image which I cut with my Cricut.

Time goes on, and teenagers change their mind about what they like and don't like.  My daughter decided she was not really in to the whole Peace sign thing any more . . . she wanted to change things up, but she still liked the idea of three images around the Donald cut.

While we were on our trip to Walt Disney World in 2012 she had an idea . . . yes, this was all HER idea . . . she had seen me using adhesive backed fabric for projects, and had even helped me to come up with a few project ideas, and she said "Mom, what if we printed out 3 pictures of me with Donald from this vacation and put them over the top of those flat Peace sign plaques to look like photos on a canvas"

So we looked at our trip photos and found 3 that we liked.  One of Safari Donald, one of Mexican Donald and one of  The Great Donaldo (Donald Duck dressed up like a magician in a redone portion of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom) and we printed them on Ink Jet Printable adhesive backed fabric.

Then I just had to use some scissors to trim them to the right size for the square plaques and now her wall looks like this . . . 

The best part is that if she decides she wants to change it all up with different photos or a totally different theme all we have to do is pick out new photos or images, print, cut and suddenly she has a whole new look.

I really like the way that these turned out.  Because we used a fabric, these plaques really look like photos printed on canvas.  If we didn't have the plaques, we could have just trimmed all of these photos the same size and put them right on the wall.
