My Cut Search

So by now you probably know that Cricut Search has officially changed it's name to My Cut Search.

When we first launched the site in September 2010, we did so under the name CricutSearch.com. With so many other sites out there that use the word Cricut in the name of their sites, we did not see any harm in having it in our name also. We were later advised that we should remove the word Cricut from our website name. This was very hard for us, since we loved the original name and had already gathered a following under that name, but we knew that if we wanted the site to have the potential to grow as we wanted it to, it would be better if we changed the name now. We came up with the name MyCutSearch.com, since we are hoping that this will become the main source for finding what crafters want to cut with their Cricut.  (plus My Cut sort of rhymes with Cricut)

I just wanted to clear the air since I have heard that there is a lot of buzz going around about our name change. ProvoCraft did NOT contact us and they did not FORCE us to change our name. We did find and speak with our own trademark lawyer, and he did say that we would be better protected if we use a different name.

It was really hard for me . . . I cried about it . . . but we have tried to get in touch with ProvoCraft via emails and phone calls and we did not want to end up being the next lawsuit or having them force us to shut down our site just because of the name of it. So we decided to change it ourselves.

Now our name does not have ANY trademarked words in it, and our logo is an original, drawn by my son.

We still hope that we can speak with and work with ProvoCraft at some point, but until that day we had to do what was best for our family.

If you like what you see, keep coming back, and please tell your crafting friends!

  1. I love the new logo! Your son did a great job.

I also think you made the right decision to change the name just in case.

I am proud to display your button!
