Happy Easter!

I hope that all of you are enjoying a Happy Easter!

I have a project that has a sign of spring, and when you are living where there is still snow on the ground like I am we need all of the signs of spring we can find!

For this card I went simple but elegant.  I used a solid color of cardstock that I cut to size and folded in half.

Next I added a black and while patterned piece of paper slightly smaller than the front of my card.

Next I cut a piece of plain white paper slightly smaller than the black and white patterned paper.

Then I ran the white paper through my Cuttlebug to emboss it and give it a little extra POP.

Before adhering these layers to the card, I wrapped a piece of black ribbon around it and taped it down on the backside.  This way you get a nice clean wrap and you know that the ends of the ribbon will stay tucked in.

The final touch . . . a BEAUTIFUL butterfly cut from the Glitter Vinyl Sticker Sheet from The Buckle Boutique!  Now, I have cut glitter cardstock in the past, and I have to tell you that the Glitter Vinyl Sticker sheets from The Buckle Boutique are SO MUCH BETTER than ANY glitter cardstock I have EVER used!

Why is this product so much better than glitter cardstock?
  1. I can rub my hand all over the Glitter Sticker Sheets and not a SINGLE speck of glitter comes off on my hands!  All of that sparkle stays on your project!
  2. It cuts like hot butter!  Seriously!  With the cut for this card I had my Cricut set with a blade depth of 4, pressure and speed were at 3 and I only did a single cut (no muliti cut needed!) and it cut all of those delicate curves and just peeled right of the backing!
  3. Since it is a sticker sheet, and not a cardstock, the adhesive is already on the back of the cut, so there is no need to get out a glue pen and try to get glue on all of those little delicate areas.  No worries of anything "popping" back off of your project because you did not get enough glue in one area.

Do you know which Cricut Cartridge this butterfly is from?  I bet you won't guess since when you hear the name of the cartridge the first thing that pops into your head is not "butterfly".

It is from the Disney Hannah Montana Cricut Cartridge!
It is the one in the first feature button called Pop Princess.

I found this buy using my favorite search database, MyCutSearch.com
Just type in butterfly and you will probably find a cartridge you own that has a butterfly you could use to make a card just like the one shown in this post.

Happy Crafting!

It has been WAY TOO LONG

It has been too long since I have last posted here!  I have just been so busy!  I am working on something with The Buckle Boutique that will be going on in July of this year . . . I will wait until I have FULL DETAILS to share with you, but trust me, it will be FUN!

I have also been working on making updates to MyCutSearch.com . . . I want to get new cartridges added so that you can search ALL of the cartridges you own.  I got behind while hockey season was going on . . . I can't miss watching my daughter scoring goals on the ice!  When she first started playing we would treat her to a Blizzard from Dairy Queen after she would score a goal . . . and now she is scoring them so often she keeps a spreadsheet to keep track of how many goals she has scored and if we "paid" for them with a Blizzard or not yet!
If she keeps this up she trade the cash value of those for a trip or her first year of college.

I was also recently in a car accident.  I was just rear ended, but I had my head turned at the time (looking over my shoulder for a break in oncoming traffic)  After this happened I was suffering headaches, neck pain, double vision, sensitivity to light, short term memory loss and I could not focus on anything.  I did not even WANT to craft.  You KNOW that something is wrong if I don't WANT to be crafting!  All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and go to sleep and wish the pain in my head and neck would go away.

I am being treated by a chiropractor now, and things are getting better.  I am not back 100%, but I would say a good 85% . . . I can function and not be thinking all day "OMG my head hurts!"

So maybe tomorrow I will make it into the craft room . . . and maybe I will get time to post a Easter crafting project to share with you.

Take care, and happy crafting!

Photo Booth Props

Have you seen the new trend of doing photo booths at parties or weddings?  This allows your party guests to have souvenirs of the special event.  Many people even have props available for their guests to use in the photos . . . silly hats, feather boas, sunglasses.  When I was on Pinterest the other day I saw someone made props of mustaches that were covered in glitter that they put on a stick so that party guests could hold them in front of their face for the photos.  I thought this was a cute idea, but I wanted to take it one step further.

I know that when I have done SOME glitter projects that after time the glitter would come off, or you would get glitter all over your craft room.  I wanted to make my photo props so that the glitter would NEVER come off, and thankfully I had JUST the product for this task
Glittery Vinyl Sticker Sheets
from

This stuff is AMAZING!  Sparkle and glitter with NO MESS!  I promise you . . . I do not have any glitter on my hands and I just got done making this project!

Check it out!

For mine, I purchased pre-made props.  I think the whole package of props was less than $10 at a party supply store, and they came with all of the shapes already on the sticks, but they were just a plain, boring cardstock cutout and I wanted mine to be FUN!

I just peeled back some of the Glitter Vinyl Sheet and stuck it on the pre-made shapes, then I trimmed off the excess.  The Glitter Vinyl Sheets are self adhesive . . . no need to worry about what type of tape or glue to use to make sure they stick!

If you didn't want to use pre-made shapes you could always cut shapes with a die cutting machine, like your Cricut.  These Glitter Vinyl Sheets cut with ONE CUT . . . no deep blade needed!  Seriously, this stuff cuts better than some cardstock I have used!

Right now you can get a 8"x10" sheet of this Glitter Vinyl for just $5!
