Snow Baby!

I am SO BEHIND in my scrpabooks! Here is a layout I did from my niece's first time walking around in the snow . . . in 2009!  I had just gotten my Winter Lace Cricut cartrdige, and I went a little crazy making snowflakes.  I backed them in two different shades of purple, to bring out the purple in the snowflake patterned paper I used at the bottom of the layout.

I knew I wanted to add stitching lines around the photos, to frame them, but I also know how I am with free hand drawing things . . . even just little stitch lines . . . I do not get them straight or uniform looking!  Thank goodness for the Sew Much Fun stamp set by K Andrew Designs!

Snow Blog Hop!

Welcome to the I Love Snow Blog Hop!

This hop is being organized by Lisa from http://honeybearzdesigns2011.blogspot.com/
If you just happened to show up at my blog,
make sure to go to Lisa's site to start the hop from the beginning.

The funny thing about the fact that I am in this hop is that I am normally the person that says that I hate snow!  I hate driving in it, and all of the hassles that come with it.  I do love the look of the snow in the trees after a fresh snowfall.  Since I live in Minnesota, snow is something I have to deal with a lot.

When I was getting ready to make my project for this blog hop, there actually was not any snow on the ground here in Minnesota!  Then, the weekend that I made and hung up this project we got a
HUGE SNOW STORM!!!
So my  husband says that I brought it on with my project.

I used adhesive backed material for this project.  I like working with adhesive backed fabric better than a traditional vinyl.  I used some of the new Holiday Colors for this project.

I cut the Let It Snow phrase from my Celebrate with Flourish Cricut cartridge and layered the colors on top of each other.  Then I used some Viva Decor Pearl Pens to make little dots in a variety of colors along the flourish lines.  Below you can see a close up of one of the flourishes.

The best part is that when winter is done I can take this down and place it on a sheet of waxed paper and pack it away with my other holiday decorations and save it again for next year!  Since I used adhesive backed fabric, it is removable and will not damage the wall!

Monsters Inc goes Christmas

I have a quick little project I wanted to show you . . . actually, it is just something my daughter did, combining two past projects.

Back before Halloween I showed you a Monsters Inc image I cut from adhesive backed fabric to decorate the wall.

To see that full post click HERE

I have also shared with you how I have created paper dolls including an elf and Santa with adhesive backed fabric

You can see those full posts HERE and HERE

So then my daughter gave Mikey a Christmas makeover . . .

I think he looks so cute all dressed up for Christmas!

Christmas Scrapbook Layout

Here is a scrapbook layout that I created of my niece that includes the photos of her with Santa, her enjoying Christmas dinner at our house and the Christmas card her parents sent out that year.

I thought it was a fun way to combine all of the different photos of her . . . from casual to dressy . . . all in one scrapbook layout.

Christmas Layout . . . this is why I try to hide from the camera!

Normally I am the one behind the camera, so I have lots of great pictures of everyone else, but none of myself . . . and actually that is fine with me because normally we are opening out gifts in the morning and I am still in my pajamas with no make-up on. My husband happened to get a few pictures of me and I did scrapbook them.

As you can see, I wear my Mickey Mouse Santa hat to hide the fact that I have not done my hair yet.  This was the year I was determined to get in shape and I hinted that I wanted the Biggest Loser workout kit for the Wii system.  I also got a new Cricut cartridge . . . my reward for after I work out.  The large ornaments in this layout are cut from glittery paper and the cut can be found on the Christmas Cheer Cricut cartridge.  I also embossed the mats for the three circular cuts with a snowflake embossing folder.

Christmas Cheer card

Recently I showed you a project I created with the Dazzling Diamond Rhinestone sheets from
The Buckle Boutique.  If you did not see that post you can click HERE to see my past projects with this product wonderful product!

The first time I had the chance to play with the Rhinestone Resin Self Adhesive Sticker Sheets from The Buckle Boutique was at the Cropped Event in Wisconsin this past summer.  I was so amazed by this product!  It is a sheet of rhinestones with an adhesive backing, but the BEST part about it is that you can CUT it with scissors or a die-cutting machine!  The rhinestones are actually made from a soft material, so the blade can go right through them.  It is amazing!

Here are what the sheets look like when you get them

Some tips for working with this product when cutting with your Cricut
  1. Use a deep cut blade
  2. Place your blade depth at 6
  3. Use a mulit-cut of 4
  4. Place the product face down on the Cricut cutting mat and use the Flip Mode  (since you have the product upside down, you need to flip the cut for the image to be correct when you flip it over)
If you would rather watch the video with the cutting instructions, click HERE

I was working on a few holiday cards and I had a sheet of the emerald green Dazzling Diamond product that I thought would be PERFECT for a Christmas card.

I used a scrap of green paper that had triangles in several bright colors for the background, and then I used the negative space I had left over from cutting a red top note cut.  This is a great way to use the left over pieces when you are crafting!  Don't throw away the scraps . . . use them!

I wanted a light background so that the Christmas tree really popped, so I used some white paper that I ran through the Cuttlebug with my snowflake embossing folder.  Then I cut the Christmas tree from the Christmas Cheer Cricut cartridge out of the emerald green Dazzling Diamond rhinestone sheet.  Since this product has an adhesive back, once I cut it out all I needed to do is peel off the backing and I could attach it to my card.

I did a video showing you the cutting settings for this product that you can watch by clicking HERE.

Bright Wishes

Recently I showed you a project I created with the Dazzling Diamond Rhinestone sheets from

I wanted to use their Rainbow Sheet for a Christmas card, and I wanted to stripes of the rainbow to run at an angle, so I just placed the product on my Cricut cutting mat at an angle like this.

As you can see, the pretty side is down on the mat, and the adhesive backing is the part you can see.  This is why you need to use the Flip Mode.  If you don't flip the image, your cut will be backwards.

When I cut mine, I did have to separate the cut from the rest of the sheet . . . just a little pressure from my finger and it popped right out.

I don't know about you, but I LOVE IT!!!!

Here is a close up so you can see the sparkle even better
