40 and Fabulous

I hope you like this card today . . . I am really proud of the way it turned out.  It is a 40th birthday card for my sister-in-law.  She is just a couple of weeks younger than me, so she is also hitting that milestone of 40 this year, and I wanted to make her a card that was fabulous.

I used my Forever Young Cricut cartridge and cut the image of the woman on this page out of black paper, and then her dress out of a red and white printed paper.

Then I cut the word fabulous out of white paper and did the shadow cut of that in red.

Now is where it really got fun!  I took a piece of black paper and ran it through my Cuttlebug with a snake skin pattern from the Animal Print set.  I wanted the cut of the woman to really stand out, so I cut a piece of white paper and ran that through my Cuttlebug with the D'vine Swirls embossing plate.  For even more pop, I backed this with some red paper.  I cut the numbers 4 0 out of two shades of red with my Calligraphy Collection cartridge using the main base cut and the shadow cut.

Add some silver paper with shiny swirls and put all of the pieces together and this is how it looked

What do you think?  I really like the paper I used for the dress.  I think the scale of the pattern really works for a dress . . . heck, if I could find fabric in this pattern I think I would be making a dress like this.  I think I  bought it at Archiver's.  It is by gcd studios and the pattern is called Small Dots, and I did find it online . . . the picture online is NOT very good, but I can tell it is the same paper.  HERE is a link.
