Disney products from CHA

I am already thinking about the Craft and Hobby Associations's Trade Show in January. I am so happy that I will be able to attend this event again, and connect with some of my craft friends . . . and hopefully continue to make new crafty friends.

So, as I was going through some of my saved photos, I realized that I never shared THESE photos form the 2012 CHA event with you!

All of the products you see in these photos are from Paper Wizard.  I fell in LOVE with their booth . . . I was in Disney Scrapbooking HEAVEN!

If you want the look of the detailed Disney die cuts but don't want to do all of that work putting the pieces together then THIS is the company for you!

And even though the cuts in this photo are a circus theme, I could TOTALLY see using them for photos of a first ride on the Dumbo ride at Disney!

Magic Marble Monday - Soap Dish

I have been showing you some things that my daughter and I have done with Magic Marble Swirling Paints over the last couple of weeks
Click HERE to see them all

For today's project I want to show you how you can use Magic Marble to decorate your bathroom

First, we went to the Dollar Store and purchased a plain white soap dispenser and a plain white soap dish.
Next, we put green, yellow and light blue Magic Marble swirling paints into a bucket of water . . . then we just lowered the items into the water.

Here is how the soap dispenser turned out

and the soap dish looks like this

I love how even though we used the same colors, these turned out completely different!

Winter Holidays

What would you do if you wanted to make a project for a winter holiday . . that means anything from Halloween to Valentine's Day but you cannot use ANY Cricut holiday cartridges?

That is exactly the challenge going on right now at

Let me show you what I would do.  I would start off at MyCutSearch.com and I would think of an image that is a symbol of each holiday and search for that.  Here are some examples . . .

Holiday: Halloween
Image: pumpkin

So now let's look at just SOME of the non-holiday cartridges I found.
Did you know that A Child's Year has some really cute pumpkin cuts on it?

and Simply Charmed

Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 . . . this one even has a Happy Halloween phrase cut

Now, I personally don't own any of those cartridges, but I did find some that I do own, one of them being Disney Happily Ever After

And here is a Halloween themed project where I used that cut

Let's try another holiday

Holiday: Thanksgiving
Image: turkey

Again, these are just a FEW of the images I found using MyCutSearch.com

Animal Kingdom

Create A Critter

Celebrate with Flourish

And here is a project I created with the turkey from Celebrate with Flourish

This is kind of fun!

Holiday: Christmas
Image: Christmas tree

How about these for Christmas Tree images from non-holiday cartridges

Art Philosophy

Create A Critter 2

Lyrical Letters
(the tree is in the small icon, top row, middle image, shift key)

And here is a card I made with that tree cut

I hope this shows you that when you use the right tools for the job
(MyCutSearch.com for finding images)
it is not that hard to find an image for your holiday projects without going to a holiday Cricut cartridge.

So show me what you can find and join the challenge at

Connecting with other Bloggers

I love the crafting blogging world!  Because of a post on another blog yesterday, I discovered a listing of blogs of some very talented ladies.  I started to go through that list one by one to visit each ladies blog, see her work and leave a comment.  Well, one of those ladies had done Monster Google Eye Jewelry Project that I thought was SO CUTE!  Click HERE to see the post.

In my comment I mentioned that I thought a Mike Wazowski version of that necklace would be fun to make
(you know me, my mind ALWAYS goes to Disney)
Well, she contacted me and she made one!
So click HERE to see the Mike Wazowski version of this necklace.

I love that we as bloggers can share what we do, connect with each other and inspire each other. And now I know another blogger that loves crafts and Disney.

5 minute rhinestone project

Sometimes I feel like being crafty and adding an embellishment to an item I already have, but I don't always have a lot of time on my hands.  That is one of the reasons I love the rhinestone sticker sheets from The Buckle Boutique!  Just cut a piece of this off in a straight line with scissors or into a shape with a die cutting machine, peel off the backing and stick!  It does not get any easier!

For this project I used a piece of the rainbow sticker sheet.  I wanted to add some sparkle to a pumpkin spice scented candle I just purchased.

I simply took my scissors and cut a strip of the rainbow sticker sheet down the length of the sheet, so that I the strip of rhinestones ONLY had the yellow and orange tones in it.  I thought this created an ombre type look, which is very popular right now.

Then I just peeled off the backing and stuck the rhinestones to the candle.  Since they are in one continuous sheet I did not have to line up the rhinestones or anything . . . just stick all of the rows on at once!

And think about how many of these you could do from ONE SHEET of the rainbow sticker sheets!  This could be a great way to dress up jar candles for holiday gifts!

The Buckle Boutique Halloween Themed Bling Party!

Thanks for joining us for the Halloween Themed Bling Party!

Sit back, relax and get ready to see some projects that sparkle!

I cannot wait for you to see what we have created, and for you to meet our newest Design Team Members

For my project I wanted to take some pumpkins that I bought at the craft store last year and add some new life to them.  I have seen images on Pinterest of  pumpkins decorated with rhinestones and I wanted to recreated that look using the Dazzling Diamond Rhinestone Sticker Sheets

Using my Wall Decor and More Cricut cartridge I cut two wavy shapes, in two different sizes that I placed near the top of the larger pumpkin.  I had some black glitter vinyl that I cut in large scrolling shapes and added those to the pumpkins also.

I found a wavy leaf like shape from the Calligraphy Collection Cricut cartridge, and I cut that out of the black rhinestone sticker sheets.  I used it on the larger pumpkin.  Once I had it cut, I like of thought it looked like a ghost, which also works for the Halloween theme.

Then, on the smaller pumpkin I actually used the small pieces that were cut out from the INSIDE of that "leaf" shape.  I did not want to waste these little cuts, and the smaller pumpkin was better suited for smaller accents.

I hope you liked my project!  If you want to make this look for your home, make sure to head over to

Magic Marble Monday - Ribbon

It is another Magic Marble Monday!
For today's project I wanted to try using the Magic Marble swirling paints on some white ribbon

I used the green and blue for this project.

Since I figured it would be hard to dip the ribbon down into the bucket of water with the paints in it, I decided to actually put the ribbon into the bucket first with just a little tip of it out of the water that I could grab on to, then I dropped the paints in and swirled them, and then I slowly pulled the ribbon up through the paints and watched them swirl onto the ribbon.

With all of these different photos you can see how easy it is to create unique and custom colored ribbons.  No two sections of the ribbon are the same!

Bridesmaid Gifts

I made these a while back, and actually forgot that I had not posted them yet!

One of the big trends right now are the plastic tumblers with the straws . . . and CUSTOMIZED ones are an even BIGGER TREND!  Since one of my husband's cousins was getting married I asked her if she would like some custom tumblers to give to her bridesmaids.

I went to the store and I could not find tumblers with straws, so I went with some plain clear ones.
Each one was less than $1!

I found a heart that I liked in the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge, so I decided to put that on the tumblers along with each bridesmaid's first initial.

I used a red permanent vinyl.  I cut the hearts about 3.75" tall, doing what is called a kiss cut.  This cuts through the top layer of the vinyl, but not through the backing, so that you can peel it off like a sticker.

When doing a kiss cut, remember 3/3/3 . . . speed of 3, pressure of 3, blade depth of 3

Look how nice that comes right up off the mat!

Then I placed the hearts on to the tumblers.  Now it is time for the letters.  I really liked one of the font styles on Calligraphy Collection, so I decided to use that.

Since these letters were very thin I decided to use blue painter's tape to help me transfer the letters from the sheet to the tumbler.  I placed a piece of tape over the letter, than ran my fingernail over the top to get the letter to stick to the tape.  Then when I peeled it back I just held down the uncut piece of vinyl and pulled out the letter.  Another way to do this would be to make all of the letter cuts and then do a process called weeding.  Weeding is when you removed all of the vinyl that is surrounding the image you cut.  Now, I do not like to waste ANYTHING, so weeding to me is a waste of product . . . once you pull off all of that extra stuff, what are you going to do with it?  If I can get the image to stick to the painter's tape without weeding, that is what I do.  If there are small pieces that stuck to the painter's tape and came up with the cut, like the inside of a letter D, then I use a pin to peel that portion away from the painter's tape.

Now the next step is to line up the cut where you want it and smooth it down.  You can see the general outline of the image through the painter's tape . . . yes, it is not perfectly clear and see through, but you can get the placement good enough . . . or at least I usually do.

And this is what the finished tumblers looked liked
I even put Bride on the back of the one for the Bride.

Let's Party

Here is a cute birthday card I made using the elephant from Create A Critter 2.

I started off by folding a piece of yellow cardstock to be the base of the card.  Then I used a sheet of Paper Layerz Paper.  Each sheet of this paper comes with nine 4" squares of coordinating colors on one sheet . . . that way I can just put one sheet of cardstock down on my Cricut mat and have all of the colors to cut the image for my project.  If you do not have Paper Layers, just go through your papers and find the colors you want to use, cut them down to squares and lay them out in a grid pattern on your Cricut mat before you load it into your Cricut.

After I cut the elephant and the words Let's Party I cut some rectangles from the scraps of the paper to add something else to the background.  To finish off . . . a little Viva Decor on the eyes and the end of the tail.

Earn your PhD in Scrapbooking

I am so happy to announce that I have joined into a new partnership with Faith Wallace for the site

Scrapbooker PhD will host challenges, and parts of the challenge may include tips on how to use MyCutSearch.com
For example, you might be asked to make a Halloween Themed project, but you cannot use any cuts from cartridges that have the word Halloween, scary, haunting or October in them.

How would you do that?

By using MyCutSearch.com you could see that there are MANY Halloween themed images on NON-Halloween themed cartridges!

If you love a good challenge, or just want to be inspired by others,

My Cricut Craft Room Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Cricut Craft Room Blog Hop.
To make sure you don't miss any of the fun, be sure to start at
http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/

Today I am going to be sharing some card projects with you with some products I really love.

First birthdays for boys always make me think of bright colors.  That was the inspiration behind this card.  I wanted something colorful and fun.

I started with a kraft paper card . . . I figured since I was going to be covering the whole thing in bright colors it did not matter what color the base of the card really was underneath.

I used some scrap pieces of red and blue cardstock to cover the background of the card.

Then, on the yellow cardstock, I used one of the car stamps from the Rush Hour set by Craffiti Direct
I simply stamped it over and over in all different colors.  I thought this was a fun way to create my own background paper for this card.

Next I cut the number 1 for the front of the card.
I knew there were a LOT of Cricut Cartridges out there with the number one on them, and I did not want to sit and flip through all of my handbooks to find the one I wanted to use . . . so I went to

MyCutSearch.com

and used the Advanced MyCutSearch (from the main menu on the left)
This allows you to customize your search, and one of the ways is to select that you ONLY want to search for a character or number.

I entered a 1 into the search bar and quickly found that the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge had the perfect font for what I wanted.

I wanted to use the Red Jeweled Dazzling Diamonds Sticker Sheet from The Buckle Boutique to really add some dimension to this card.
Since this product is thicker, I cannot cut it in my Cricut
(but you CAN cut the thinner rhinestone sheets from The Buckle Boutique in your Cricut!
Go HERE for details.)

So I first cut the number 1 out of cardstock, then I placed that cut on the BACK of the Red Jeweled Dazzling Diamonds Sticker Sheets and then just cut around it with my scissors.
Make sure to FLIP the image you are using as a template over, so it is backwards, since you are cutting from the back side of the product.

I love the dimension that you get from this product!

Another card idea is to use up your scraps . . . quick and easy . . . like this!

I just cut several hexagons in a similar color theme to create a quick and easy card from scraps!

I have also done this same idea with the Dazzling Diamond products . . . look at that SPARKLE!
