Cricut Cake

I have gotten a lot of people stopping by to look at the information we posted about the Cricut Cake Machine, and many people are leaving so many comments I wanted to do another blog on the topic.
I have not used the Cricut Cake, but I will try to answer some of the questions I have seen out there.

Use sheets of fondant or gumpaste that are about 1/8" thick.

Yes, you can use the Cricut Cake for cutting paper also.  Think of it like when people would use a pasta machine for pressing out their polymar clay.   I would recommend washing between switching from paper to food.

Yes, the machines cost a lot of money, but if you have a friend or sibling that is also interested in getting one the you could share the cost.

My expression when I got my Cricut Expression

If you have been following my blog, you saw that last weekend I mentioned that my husband found Cricut products on sale at Menards.  He told me that they had the "big" machine for just $179, which I did not believe until I looked at the ad myself.  He asked "Would you ever want that one, since you already have the smaller one" and I said "I wouldn't want it for the $399 that it normally sells for, but that price is less than what we paid for my "little" one"

So, while I was working on cards with the new cartridge that he had already given me, he slipped out of the house and got me the Expression Machine!  I thought that he was going to save it for a Christmas present, but he decided to give it to me on my birthday.  He loved my reaction!

Card making - simple

I have a co-worker that was coming back to work after her maternity leave, and I wanted to make a card to welcome her back.  Well, since I just received the cartridge Lyrical Letters for my birthday, I could not wait to use it.  Here is the card I created.

After I took the picture, I felt like the card needed a little extra "bling" so I added some sparkle stickers to the center of the flowers and this is what it looked like.  Not sure if you can see the "bling".

I used a cut from the Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge.  If you have not looked at this cartridge you should!  Besides the beautiful fonts, there are frames and other cuts like the one in this card towards the end of the handbool.

Cricut products at Menards!

I just found out, thanks to my WONDERFUL husband, and the fact that he gave me my birthday present a day early, that MENARDS sells Cricut products!  Even better, they are having a sale on some right now.  The cartridges Doodlecharms, Alphalicious, Graphically Speaking and Lyrical Letters are all on sale for only $22.50!  And, the Cricut Expressions machine (yes, that's the big one) is only $178 after mail in rebate!

Hurry . . . these prices are only good until tomorrow, July 18th (my birthday) and while supplies last.  The Menards near us was already sold out of Graphically Speaking, but my husband did get me Lyrical Letters.  I would suggest calling your local store before heading over.  The Cricut products are located in the wallcovering/paint department.

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah & ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading multi-channel retailer HSN and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia today announced the debut of Martha Stewart live at HSN on July 19. Sesame Street decorations with your Cricut

I was just looking at my Cricut Chirp Newsletter for this week, and there was the cutest project shown there from Jennifer Ebright.  For her daughter's first birthday she made yard decorations with her Sesame Street Cricut cartridge.

This is such a great idea! I bet you could laminate them also to protect them from the weather.  Think of all of the other times you could use this idea . . . baby showers or to announce the birth of a new baby, or use a wedding image for a wedding shower, and for a graduation party you could line the path with graduation caps.

Something big is coming

I have some really big news to share with all of my crafting friends, but I know that I cannot let the cat (or cricket) out of the bag quite yet.  Trust me, when this news does break you will be the FIRST to know.  I cannot wait until I get the green light to make this information public.

Can you tell that I have a hard time with secrets and surprises?

3 Birds On Parade

At first glance I did not think that this was a cartridge that I would want to purchase . . . boy am I glad I took a closer look!

Similar to Everyday Paper Dolls and Paper Doll Dress Up, this cartridge dresses the birds up for every occasion, and as a bonus there are some great words and phrases.

Look at this cute little bird all bundled up for winter.

Or how about this cute little bird to cheer on your favorite sports team or player.

Weather you just like birds, are looking for more accessories and cute images, great phrases or want to add another another font to your collection, this is a cartridge that you should take a look at.
